  • Chicken- so genetically modified, they don't even require growth hormones. The genetic manipulation of broiler chickens also causes several physical ailments. As chickens grow at faster rates and develop more substantial pectoral muscles, their bodies often develop painful conditions such as muscle disease, deformities, and foot problems. Commercial chicken leads to impaired hormone levels. The normal production is affected which causes several physical issues. For example, hypogonadism, low testosterone levels and testicular atrophy are common. Females are likely to suffer from imbalances in estrogen and progesterone levels. Liver tumors and heart diseases are common in both genders. Eating industrial chicken that sells for cheap can lead to obesity, heart conditions, stomach ulcers, etc.
  • Beef- While growth hormone use is banned in poultry production, it is a perfectly legal and accepted practice in the beef cattle industry. Most beef cattle fed in the United States do receive a growth-promoting hormone implant. Estradiol-17β - one of the six hormones commonly used in US beef production – “has to be considered a complete carcinogen” (having the potential to cause cancer). This is because the hormone “exerts both tumor initiating and tumor promoting effects”. *Scientific Committee (SCVMPH)
  • GMOs- Bully Green ingredients will all be organic and GMO / pesticide free and grown or raised on our Bully World Farm in Tennessee. AAEM’s position paper stated, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. They conclude, “There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation,” as defined by recognized scientific criteria. “The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.”
  • Animal By-Products and Meal- what’s left of a slaughtered animal after the skeletal muscle meat intended for human consumption has been removed (known as offal) include those parts of an animal which have been “rejected for human use and can be expected to be processed into animal feed”. By-products that are not refrigerated immediately after slaughter but stored for hours in a hot offal trailer cannot be sold for human consumption…

But they can still be legally used for making pet food. Generic meat meals can also contain: Road Kill, Dead Zoo animals, dead on         arrival poultry, diseased and dying livestock, Euthanized dogs and cats (unlikely today, but still possible)

  • Weed Killer-Glyphosate works by targeting the Shikimate pathway, essential for the production of crucial amino acids in plants, algae, fungi, and bacteria. However, this non-selective herbicide also chelates vital nutrients, effectively weakening the plant's immune system. The alarming fact is that dogs can accumulate up to 30 times more glyphosate in their systems compared to humans, making them highly susceptible to its adverse effects like cancer, and a 70% increased risk of lymphoma in dogs. Furthermore, glyphosate is known to disrupt endocrine functions, kill beneficial gut bacteria, and damage DNA. The compound has been classified by the World Health Organization as a probable carcinogen.
  • Raw Meat-A study presented at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology shows that feeding dogs raw food may be spreading bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Another study using 55 samples of dog food (14 raw, frozen) were tested for enterococcus–a bacteria that causes urinary tract infections, meningitis, blood infections, and others. Enterococci was present in more than 50% of samples. Samples came from different types of dog food: wet, dry, semi-wet, frozen raw, and treats from 25 different brands. 21 brands are exported to different nations, even the raw ones. Bacterial and protozoal pathogens can be transmitted to pets consuming the diet, people, and other animals. These pathogens have been found in raw diets, and feces of dogs and cats eating raw diets. Both dogs and cats can also transmit Salmonella without showing any clinical signs of any disease.
